課程概述

1.本課程使用的教材為《實用視聽華語二》 (第一課~第七課)，希望能提高並鞏固學生運用「聽說讀寫」四方面的語言能力，學習生活語言外的常用詞彙與文法，並能得體使用華語與人溝通、討論，期望學生也能透過課程，進一步了解華語及台灣文化。
This course is constructed around the textbook Practical Audio-Visual Chinese II (Lesson 1-7), and is aiming to improve and consolidate students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Besides the four skills, this course would also love to provide a perspective on Taiwanese culture regarding the subject the textbook mentions.

2.本課程授課語言以中文為主,英文為輔。
The class will be taught in Mandarin, with minimum English only when necessary.

課程目標

1. 使學生掌握課本生詞語法並能主動使用。
To help students have a good command on the vocabulary and grammar patterns in the textbook, and can use them idiomatically as active linguistic knowledge.
2.聽、說兩項能力能達到各課標準。
Listening and speaking ability reach the level required.
3.學生能讀、寫正體字。
Know how to read and write traditional Chinese characters.

課程要求

Attendance
If you can not come to class, you must
(1) inform the instructor by email
(2) 要是你沒來上課16個小時，你就拿到F。
(Total absences for any reason cannot exceed 16 hours or an F will be received.)
(3) 要是你生病的話，沒上課的時間可以比16個小時多，可是要給老師看醫生證明（doctor note）
(Sick leaves can be taken for over 16 hours but a note from the doctor is required.)
(4) 上課晚到20分鐘或是早一點離開 20分鐘，就是少來一個小時（-1小時）
(Late for class or leaving the class early (20 minutes) will be counted as 1 hour.)

1. 上課可以喝水、飲料，但不可吃東西、吸煙。
Water or other beverages are allowed, but please do not eat or smoke in class.
2. 除老師要求外，上課請勿使用手機、電腦做其他用途。請關靜音。
Except when asked by the teacher for class activities, please do not use cell phone, computer or other digital devices for other purposes in class.
3. 上課只說中文。
Please use only Chinese in class.
4. 上課請專心積極參與，請勿進行其他與課程無關之活動。
Please pay full attention and participate in class activities. Please do not engage in other personal tasks in class.
5. 上課請尊重他人立場、想法，以及發言時間與機會的公平性。
Please respect everyone’s viewpoints and opinions, as well as the rights to have equal chances and time to speak.

1.	作業	15%	作業包括學生作業簿、中國字習寫練習及其他強化能力的作業。作業於課堂上領取，未出席者於課程網站下載後書寫。作業需於老師指定日內交回，晚交會批改但不計分。 Homework includes Chinese character practice and some other assignments, such as writing narrations or dialogues. Homework will be handed out in class, you must download it from Ceiba if you are absent. All assignments must be handed in on time, late submission will not be accepted and students will not get any points.
2.	出席	10%	(1)每堂課遲到或早退 20 分鐘以上，即算缺席一小時。 Late for class more than 20 minutes or leave the class 20 minutes earlier than scheduled time will be regarded as one-hour absence. (2)每個學生一學期可有三次缺席(9 個小時，含遲到或早退)，老師不會扣分，但必須事先寫信告訴老師。第十個小時開始，每缺席一小時，就扣出席及平時表現成績 1 分。缺課時數超過學期的五分之一則不給予學分。若有事無法上課，請先寫信告訴老師。 Students who are absent within 9 hours (including the absence that are late for class or leave the class 20 minutes than scheduled from class) will not lose any point, but you must inform the instructor by email in advance that you are unable to attend the class. From the 10th hour, students will lose one point per hour. Students who are absent for more than 1/5 of the semester (more than 20 hours, the 20th hour not included.) will fail the class. Inform the instructor by email in advance if you are unable to attend the class.
3.	口頭報告	10%	每一課一個或是兩個人做報告
4.	期末口頭報告	15%	期末自己選一個題目報告
5.	期中考	15%	期中考試為筆試(60%)、聽力測驗(10%)及口試(30%)。若因故無法參加，必須事先知會老師，方可在一週內補考筆試及聽力測驗。若沒於考試前至少一天先告訴老師，將不能進行補考。 Mid-term exam includes written test (60%), listening comprehension (10%) and oral test (30%). Students who can not take mid-term exam on the scheduled date must inform the instructor at least one day before the exam date. You will need to take a make-up exam within one week. You can not take the make-up exam if you did not inform the instructor in advance.
6.	小考	20%	(1)從第二週課程開始，除期中考及期末考週以外，每次上課都有聽寫考試。一上課就考試，如果因故而沒參加考試的，不能補考。期末會選最好的 10 次列入聽寫成績。 From the 2nd week, there will be dictation quiz at the beginning of the class. No make-up quiz provided. The instructor will pick 10 best scores at the end of the semester. (2)每課教完有單元考試(一共為 5~6次)。單元考試時間不定，但皆為該天上課最後一小時。考試主要為筆試(含聽力測驗)，視情況加入口試。每課小考缺考，請找老師補考。 There will be a written test (including listening comprehension) for each lesson (the total is 5~6 tests). The test will be given at the last hour of the class. There will be several oral tests this semester. You can take a make-up test if you miss the test for each lesson, but you must inform the instructor in advance and discuss a date for the make-up test.
7.	期末考	15%	期末考試為筆試(40%)、聽力測驗(10%)及口頭報告(50%)。期末考不管什麼原因，均不能補考。 Final exam includes written test (40%), listening comprehension (10%) and final presentation (50%). You will not be able to take a make-up exam if you miss it.
